What do researchers do? Publication series launched

Vitae has recently launched the What do researchers do? publication series at www.vitae.ac.uk/wdrd. The series contains 2 publications:

wdrd1What do researchers do? First destinations of doctoral graduates by subject. This publication contains the analysis of data collected on first employment destinations of students who successfully completed their PhD between 2003-2007 in UK universities. Both whole disciplines and also subject areas are explored in detail.

wdrd2What do researchers do? Career profiles of doctoral graduates. Where the first publication is all about the numbers, this publication is more about the people. Around 40 career stories of successful doctoral graduates are explored, providing an insight into the paths that doctoral graduates take beyond their first destination.

The Vitae team have also launched a career stories portal (at www.vitae.ac.uk/careerstories) which lists some of the ongoing projects looking into the career paths of researchers.

The publication series has also been covered extensively in the press at:
